A more present life
Just as we can train our physical health, we can also strengthen our mental well-being. Research shows that meditation can make us happier, less stressed, and more compassionate. Yet not everyone has discovered this. I believe we are at a crucial turning point. Because if we are not present, we miss our own lives and our connection to the people we love. What could be more important than that?

Why Meditate?
Here are some of the benefits of meditation
Presence
Research has shown that we are lost in thought nearly 47 percent of the time. Meditation is the art of bringing us back to presence. Each time we become aware and gently return our attention, we are doing a mental repetition. Just like training a muscle, we can strengthen our capacity for presence.
Creativity
We don’t say that we create an idea, but that we get an idea. We are often most creative in the moments when we disconnect from our constant thinking and planning. Meditation can help us access that space between thoughts, where our ideas arise.
Focus
Concentration is the foundation of meditation. Try focusing on an object for a few minutes and notice how long you can maintain your attention. The term “monkey mind,” where the mind jumps back and forth, is a fitting metaphor. Meditation helps us improve our ability to focus.
well-being
Some say that meditation has made them 10 percent happier, while others say it has changed their lives. Meditation is a tool that helps us observe ourselves with greater equanimity. Practicing acceptance of what already is allows us to cultivate inner peace and harmony.
Less stress
Stress may be one of the greatest public health challenges of our time, and is often rooted in our thoughts. Meditation is not simply a relaxation technique, but it helps us observe our thoughts from a distance and see which ones are valuable and which ones create unnecessary stress. Being able to see the difference allows us to relax.
Compassion
Research has shown that meditation can increase feelings of compassion. It can also help us become more aware of how often we have self-critical thought, and to not believe everything we think. Meditation teaches us not to judge ourselves, which is the foundation for not judging others.
